What is a Fan Page and why do I need one?
Facebook fan pages work in much the same as your personal Facebook account does. Other Facebook users can ‘like’ your fan page (aka subscribe to your feed) and see the content you post whether that’s comments, images, links, videos or polls.
A fan page offers many benefits, here are just a few:
- Increase your audience and drive traffic
Facebook has over 700 million users who will all have access to your fan page. That’s a lot of people potentially seeing your content and traffic to your site - Fan pages are SEO friendly
Google can find and rank your fan page which means you can have another Google ranking in addition to your website listing - Flexible and versatile
Facebook fan pages are utilised in many different ways by companies, clubs, groups, events, tv shows, famous personalities, performers and so on as a way to allow users to subscribe to their feeds and then interact with them. - Leverage your subscribers
Every subscriber is a potential customer regardless of what you are selling. Once you build a fan base you can be directly promoting your goods and services, upselling products alongside your posts, just building your brand and fan base without selling anything (for now), selling other people’s products and so on. The more subscribers you have, the more people you can sell to, and the more money you can potentially make - Attract subscribers’ friends & grow your fan base
Each friend of a fan is a potential subscriber because every time a fan interacts with your page their friends will see it in their feed. Interacting with your fans and giving them reasons to like your wall posts will help expand your fan base. - A fan page can have Multiple admins
You don’t have to do all the work yourself or give others your Facebook login for them to be able to update the fan page for you. Just make them a fan page admin.
How is it different from just having a webpage?
There is, and will always be, a lot of things a website can do which a Facebook page cannot but there are a number of ways a Facebook page can be used to support a website or be used in isolation to great effect.
- Get subscribers and easily message them
Facebook users can subscribe with one click of a like button. Then they instantly get fed anything you post and you can message them all in one go. You don’t need to use email mailing list software or manage your subscribers - Connect with your subscribers
You can directly engage with your audience 2-way which you might not be able to do on your website if it’s just a brochure site. A Facebook fan page would let you gather feedback, answer questions, address complaints and so on very easily. - Reach a huge audience – instantly
Imagine you are a restaurant and have a last minute cancellation you need to fill. It’s unlikely that your small website which doesn’t get much traffic can help. It could be days until someone sees the announcement you post on it. But if you have 1000′s of subscribers on Facebook you can get that message out to lots of people instantly. Not only will your subscribers see the message but if they ‘like’ or ‘comment’ on it then all their friends will also see it! - Quick, easy and FREE to update
It takes seconds and costs nothing to post a message. You don’t need to pay a web designer to update your site with some news or need a PC and access to a CMS control panel to make updates. You can do almost all of it from your smartphone! - Nothing technical to learn
If you already use Facebook you already know how to use a fan page. You don’t need to find your way round a content management system or read any instruction guides.
But Facebook has its limitations for a business. The standard wall page containing your posts doesn’t do anything to promote your brand. Even your ‘info’ page is often very plain and doesn’t allow you to distinguish your page from any of the other millions of restaurants listed on Facebook
Hit Reach Custom Facebook Pages Application
The Hit Reach Custom Facebook Pages application allows us to add content into your fan pages and enables you to promote your brand in a way which isn’t possible natively in Facebook.
What this means for you:
- Custom landing page which promotes your brand
A landing page on Facebook for your company which looks like well anything! It can contain pretty much anything a normal webpage can so it can be a combination of text, images, videos and so on - Generate more likes & get more customers
A custom fan page can generate new subscribers by using rewards & offers or just by attracting them to your brand and its offerings which aren’t always obvious from the default Facebook landing page. By increasing your subscribers not only do you increase your potential customer base but you only reach your subscribers friends each time they interact with you - Different content for fans vs non-subscribers
Our app contains a script which can show one banner to non-subscribers, prompting them to like your page to receive special offers for example, but hide it for existing fans. You could also show subscribed users exclusive content such as offers and promotional codes. You could take this one step further and show non-subscribers an entirely different landing page altogether - Multiple landing pages
You can have multiple pages within your custom page by having tab style navigation across the top of the page - Control the content using your WordPress CMS
Information can be pulled in from your website too if you have the right type of website meaning you don’t have to keep updating the same information in multiple places online.

Your page could look very different to ours and is only limited to the dimensions of the space we can design within on the Facebook site.
